A Prayer for Colleagues

[I offered this prayer during the 25/50 worship service at the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association 2015 Ministry Days.]

Holy One, Holy All:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this morning.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this summer now dawning.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this moment with colleagues, this moment with peers, this moment with friends.

Let us offer praise for the morning.

Let us offer praise for the day.

Let us offer praise for the summer now dawning.

And let us offer praise for colleagues—for elder colleagues, for newly-minted colleagues and those still forming. For those who serve in the community. For those who serve in the parish. For those who serve in the military. For those who serve in the academy. For those who are retired. And let us offer praise for those who’ve spoken here today—for their wisdom, their wit, their kindness, their compassion, their commitment. Let us offer praise.

Let us say, for this morning, hallelujah.

Let us say, for this day, hallelujah.

Let us say, for this summer now dawning, hallelujah.

And let us say, for our colleagues, our dear, beloved colleagues who support us, who hold us accountable, who love us and who love our faith, hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah!

Amen and blessed be.
